University of Pennsylvania and University of Virginia Press join Ingram Digital's Lineup of University Press Clients

LA VERGNE, TN – Ingram Digital continues to build upon its successes serving academic publishers with the University of Pennsylvania Press and University of Virginia Press, the two latest university presses to choose Ingram Digital as their provider of digital services.

Ingram Digital, an Ingram Content Group company focused on solutions for digital content management, distribution and promotion, offers university presses a streamlined, economical way to prepare, host and distribute content otherwise unavailable in a digital format.

As the e-book market grows, so does demand for academic and scholarly titles in digital form. However, bringing digital titles to market is challenging – particularly for non-profit entities with limited resources. The investment required to build in-house digital warehouse capabilities is significant. The technical expertise needed to negotiate the numerous file formats accepted across different channels can also be daunting.

“We recognize that Ingram Digital is guiding the industry in developing digital strategies,” said Eric Halpern Director of University of Pennsylvania Press. “They provided secure, cutting-edge, and profitable answers to our questions about the changing opportunities in the marketplace.”

Ingram Digital empowers publishers to capitalize on new technology by providing the full range of services they need to compete in the digital marketplace: secure digital warehousing, distribution to all channels, format agnostic content repurposed for multiple devices and tools for marketing and promoting content. Ingram Digital can also provide print-ready digital files to sister-company Lightning Source for print-on-demand book content to help publishers meet their “print plus digital” needs.

“The market for digital content appears to be accelerating, and Ingram Digital, with its legacy in the book business and its unique position in the supply chain, stands out as the best way to navigate the challenges unique to launching a digital distribution program," said Mark Saunders, Assistant Director of University of Virginia Press.

The cornerstone of Ingram Digital’s offering to academic publishers is CoreSource®, the industry’s most robust digital warehouse. CoreSource ensures that digital content is properly archived, file integrity protected, and versions controlled. It functions as a hub from which the publisher controls the delivery of digital files, metadata, and associated promotional materials to all its partners.

University of Pennsylvania and University of Virginia join Wesleyan University Press, Yale University Press, Princeton University Press and The University of California Press as clients who have recognized Ingram Digital’s leadership in providing safe, secure access to digital content.

“Ingram Digital understands the challenges scholarly presses face as they seek to implement their digital strategies,” said Tyler Ruse, Vice President and General Manager of Ingram Digital Content Solutions. “Our primary goal is to help publishers turn their content into profit, and we’ve made the investments in infrastructure and expertise to achieve that goal. We’re very pleased that these outstanding university presses have chosen Ingram Digital to provide their digital solutions.”
